Payroll Supervisor (ADP WFN)


Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and hands-on Payroll Supervisor to oversee and execute bi-weekly payroll operations for approximately 200 employees. This role combines day-to-day payroll processing with team leadership, oversight, and process improvement responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical payroll expertise, experience using ADP Workforce Now, and the ability to guide and support payroll operations in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing & Compliance

  • Oversee and process bi-weekly payroll for approximately 200 employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with applicable regulations
  • Review and approve payroll data, including hours, deductions, and adjustments, prior to submission
  • Manage payroll changes including new hires, terminations, pay rate updates, deductions, and garnishments
  • Reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies in advance of payroll deadlines
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and internal policies

Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide day-to-day oversight of payroll operations, acting as the primary escalation point for payroll-related issues
  • Train, mentor, and support junior payroll staff or cross-functional team members involved in payroll processes
  • Review team work for accuracy and adherence to procedures and deadlines
  • Assist in establishing payroll best practices, documentation, and standard operating procedures
  • Partner with leadership to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies

Systems & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Maintain and audit employee records across HR, payroll, and timekeeping systems
  • Coordinate payroll processing through ADP Workforce Now and other internal systems
  • Support system enhancements, implementations, or upgrades as needed
  • Collaborate closely with HR and Accounting to ensure alignment of employee data and financial reporting
  • Support benefits-related payroll deductions and respond to employee inquiries

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum 4-6 years of payroll experience, including hands-on processing and oversight responsibilities
  • Prior lead, senior payroll, or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Experience processing payroll for ~200 employees within a single state (multi-state is a plus)
  • Strong working knowledge of garnishments, payroll deductions, and benefits administration
  • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) or similar full-service payroll platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to review, audit, and improve payroll processes
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and deadline management skills
  • Comfortable working in an on-site, fast-paced environment with an immediate start timeline

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with payroll system implementation or optimization
  • Understanding of accounting reconciliations related to payroll
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to train and mentor others
